2017 SIGs - Genetics

The Genome England 100,000 genome project is mainstreaming genomics into NHS. This goes beyond our understanding of inherited monogenic disorders, but includes polygenic risk scores for common chronic diseases and tailored drug therapies.

Several Departments of Primary Care are engaged in genetics, genomics, and the related areas of stratified/precision medicine. Thus far, primary care has been identified as a key site to recruit patients  to large international studies, but primary care academics have had a limited role in leading relevant health service research.

The meeting offers the opportunity to share current and previous research, and explore potential collaboration.
