Scholarship is more than research.
The output of research is new knowledge generated through "the systematic investigation, or study, of a phenomenon ".
The practice of research - the work that researchers do - embraces the wider tasks of schoalrship as described by Boyer, being:
- DISCOVERY of knowledge and ideas
- INTEGRATION of knowledge and ideas across boundaries
- APPLICATION of same with critical rigour to evaluate impact trustworthiness and applicability
- INSPIRATION of others including through teaching
SAPC therefore recognises and champions scholarship at the heart of academic primary care practice.
