2024 Annual Report Secure Environments - RCGP and SAPC
Activities
The Royal College of General Practitioners Secure Environments Group (RCGP SEG), as part of Health and Justice UK, has co-hosted Regional and Specialist Communities of Practice and the 11th Health and Justice summit, which provide platforms to disseminate research and promote networking. The group provides free to access educational resources via Health and Justice UK webpages and the RCGP Learning Secure Environments Hub.
The Chair and members of the RCGP SEG have engaged in media activities and published in peer review journals to promote understanding of primary care in secure environments and raise the profile of health research with people in contact with the justice system.
Group representatives began working with policymakers in the Chief Medical Officer’s office.
RCGP SEG meetings have been used by academic teams, charities and other organisations to disseminate research findings (e.g., Kings College London, NCEPOD, Mother to Mother, Health Services Safety Investigations Body). The group has provided specialist advice in the development or refinement of research projects (e.g., University of Cardiff, University of York).
Future Plans
RCGP SEG will co-host the 12th Health and Justice summit.
Group representatives will continue work with policymakers in the Chief Medical Officer’s office.
RCGP SEG and Health and Justice UK will continue to develop the library of resources.
Evidence of impact of the SIG
Evidence of impact includes attendance and feedback from the 11th Health and Justice summit, continued user engagement with Specialist Communities of Practice and RCGP SEG resources, public engagement activities to increase accessibility of RCGP SEG, and sustained connections with sector stakeholders.
