Talking General Practice speaks to GP and co-chair of the Society of Academic Primary Care Dr Duncan Shrewsbury about the role academia has to play in primary care - both in terms of teaching and research.
In this episode, Duncan explains why we need more research in primary care, how practices can get more in research or start smaller-scale research projects in their own practice, as well as some of the issues around sharing data from the GP patient records for large-scale research projects.
Abstracts are invited for the Primary Care Respiratory Society (PCRS) Conference 2024. Congratulations to Dr Clare Taylor who received the John Fry award on 17th November 2023 at RCGP.
The John Fry Award is presented to a Member or Fellow of the College who has promoted the discipline of general practice through research and scholarship. The award is intended to encourage people to undertake research as a practising GP within 20 years of qualification as a GP and not holding an academic role.
Clare Taylor has consistently committed to primary care research, particularly in heart failure, and has a solid publication record for her career stage.
