After a highly successful multidisciplinary symposium on symptom research in primary care in Vejle (Denmark, 2015) we are pleased to announce the second second symposium:

‘The meaning of symptoms’

September 22 - 23, 2017, near Amtersdam, The Netherlands

We will bring together researchers from various academic disciplines, such as primary care, general medicine, psychiatry, psychology, philosophy, anthropology, sociology, and linguistics, to present state-of-the-art research focusing on symptoms.

– questioning symptoms, defining symptoms,  understanding symptoms, symptoms and healthcare seeking, making sense of symptoms, managing symptoms –

We plan to have keynote lectures on:

  • communication and symptoms
  • literature, linguistics and symptoms
  • self-care and management of symptoms
  • symptoms as bio-social phenomena

During the conference, researchers can present and discuss their work in interactive sessions.

In order to enable a high degree of interaction we will limit the number of participants to 60 !

We hope to welcome you in the autumn of 2017 in The Netherlands.
