We encourage you to travel to and from the conference on public transport when possible or, if you live locally, by active travel (on foot, by bike or e-scooter).

Getting to Bristol

For information on how to get to Bristol, see the University of Bristol’s ‘How to get here’ page. Bristol Temple Meads is the closest main train station, 1.2 miles and a 25-minute walk away from the venue.

Getting to the venue from Temple Meads/city centre

By train: You can catch a local train from Temple Meads station to Clifton Down (direction Severn Beach/Avonmouth), which is about a 10-minute walk from Wills Memorial Building. It takes an average of 14m over a distance of around 2 miles. Tickets cost £1.50 and can be purchased in advance from National Rail.

By local bus: Several bus services stop a short walk away from the Wills Memorial Building: - Services 1, 2, 2a, 8 and 72 all run from Temple Meads train station, services 3 and 4 run from the city centre. Alight at Park Street Top. Service U1 operates term-time only and runs from Stoke Bishop. Alight at Queen’s Avenue. By bike: There are racks available for locking up your bike to the right of the gardens by the main entrance. More can be found outside the Merchant Venturers building next door.

By e-scooter: Voi e-scooters operate in the Bristol area and are a great way to get around the city. The nearest parking spot is outside the Merchant Venturers building. You will need the app on your phone and a driving licence to use them: www.voi.com.

Car parking

The closest car park to the venue is West End long stay car park. There is also a long stay NCP car park nearby on Trenchard Street. For further information, please visit: www.bristol.gov.uk/parking/trenchard-street-longstay-car-park.

There is limited pay-and-display street parking around Wills Memorial Building on nearby University Road and Woodland Road.

Park & Ride: Park and Ride services allow you to park without difficulty on the outskirts of the city. A bus transports you to the city centre. For further information please visit: www.travelwest.info/parkandride.
