Simple Research Opportunity: 3i-O study [Work Package 1]

HSDR Programme NIHR155714: Impact of an Intervention on Inequalities in Overprescribing - the 3i-o study

Please note that this work package 1 will run concurrently with work package 2, which some practices are already participating in.  Practices can be involved in both work packages.

3i-O is looking at performance feedback designed to reduce overprescribing. The study team wants to see if the performance feedback makes health inequalities worse or better, for example, it may make it more difficult for certain groups of people to get the health care they need.  The study has several parts. This opportunity is to be involved in work package (WP1) which involves extracting prescribing data.  There is also a separate interview study (WP2) which you may or may not have been involved in.  Practices can be involved in both work packages or just one.

Practice involvement is minimal.  Data will be extracted by NHS North of England Care System Support (NECS).  Practices will need to allow smartcard access, display a poster, add information to their website, add some text to prescription slips for 6 weeks, add a code to the clinical records of any patients who opt out, and keep a record of these patients.  Practices will receive a one-off reimbursement of £118.
