  • Activities

We have continued to send out our quarterly newsletter which provides news and updates from SIG members, useful information and details about events. We held a gathering at SWSAPC 2023 in Birmingham. We had a slot at the SAPC ASM 2023 in Brighton. In December 2023 we held an online conference, which showcased the work of SIG members and attracted new members. There was a prize for best presentation which went to a medical student giving their first conference presentation.

We continue to offer members the option to send messages to other SIG members, promoting their research and events.

  • Future plans

The SIG chair, Helen Atherton, has moved institution from Warwick to Southampton and is in the process of re-establishing the SIG. The quarterly newsletters will continue, and we plan to have a gathering at SWSAPC 2024, and SAPC ASM 2024. We aim to hold another event later this year.

  • Evidence of impact of the SIG

Member numbers are increasing, and we reached many new people via our most recent event.  We supported Dr Ben Brown, who won the SAPC/RCGP outstanding early career researcher award in 2023, and who will run a series of workshops via the SIG as part of his award.

We have helped members to find participants for research studies via our newsletter and individual mailouts.

  • Outcomes from SIG meeting at last SAPC ASM (if held)

We attracted new members at this event and checked in with existing members.

  • How affiliation with SAPC has helped the SIG

We extremely grateful to have been able to claim the £500 funding in 2023, which paid for us to organise our online event in December.

We have been able to use the SAPC newsletter to publicise the SIG and events.

We have used the SAPC zoom account for meetings with our international team member.
