SAPC News & current events

Many thanks to co-chairs Professors Steph Taylor and Anita Berlin and Scientific Programme Chair, Dr Deborah Swinglehurst and everyone on the planning and programme teams for hosting an excellent SAPC ASM 2018 in London (10-12 July).

Congratulations to all our prize winners:

NAPCRG/SAPC Senior Award

This paper was later presented as a distinguished paper at NAPCRG 2018

As a society that reflects many of our own interests, both in health topics and research methods, we would like to draw your attention to this year's Annual Scientific Meeting of the Society for Social Medicine.

The Society for Social Medicine Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) (the UK’s leading population health conference) will be taking place in Glasgow from 5th-7th September 2018. It is being organised by the University of Glasgow and the wider public health community in Glasgow. The 62nd ASM will be held at the Technology and Innovation Centre, George Street.

We are delighted that three SAPC members – Professor Trish Greenhalgh, Oxford; Professor Paul Little, Southampton; and Professor Tim Peters, Bristol – have all been selected to serve on REF Sub-panel 2 (Public Health, Health Services and Primary Care) and one SAPC member - Professor Frank Sullivan, on REF Sub-panel 1 (Clinical medicine). Taking this on represents an enormous amount of work, but is essential to support and promote academic primary care. Our congratulations and thanks to each of you.
