2022 Annual Report Patient and public involvement and participatory approaches to primary care

We held our first in person meeting since the COVID-19 pandemic which was attended by 24 people. We had an active participatory discussion which focused around the theme of ‘Patient and public involvement and participatory approaches.’ This format worked well as it combined a participatory exercises as well small group discussions which enabled members to get to know other people with an interest in the area as well as a discussion focused on the theoretical and practical discussions of building partnerships across settings and contexts.

There were also a 4 members of the SIG that sent their apologies as they were not able to attend on the day.

Future Plans: My aim is to invite SIG members to suggest topics for future discussions with the aim of holding virtual meetings between AGMs and then an in-person meeting annually. The SIG is also working with Polly Kerr and colleagues to develop a national competencies framework and linking with Danish colleagues with an interest in public involvement (RM to present a masterclass on participatory approaches to research on the 26th Jan, 2023 to staff and students from the University of Copenhagen and Roskilde University with the aim of recruiting further SIG members).
