Coffee shops and restaurants
When you are at a conference, sometimes you want to pop out for a coffee or find a restaurant. We asked our Bristol colleagues where they would recommend close to the conference venues, and why.

If you are looking for a restaurant and haven’t booked, good areas are around Cotham Hill, Whiteladies Road or Clifton village.
Spicer & Cole at the Royal West of England Academy, for coffee, cakes & lunch. – very near the conference venue, lots of votes for this one
Boston’s tea party – nearby on Park Street, a very popular chain for great coffee, brunch or lunch
Source café – a University café in Beacon House nearby, open to the public, good value
The Cloakroom Café – unique small café in an Edwardian public loo!
Crafty Beans at the bottom of Park Street. Small and friendly.
The Watershed – Lovely space, good food, great harbourside location. Gets busy in the evenings
Bristol Guild on Park Street has a nice coffee shop inside a great shop for gifts. More cakes in plenty of space and a tempting food gift section to walk through to get there.
The cafe at the Folk House – described by one as ‘peak Bristol’!
Bristol Museum is a quirky place for a coffee and cake or light lunch.
Chris & Jo's restaurant on St Michael's Hill is a lovely, small restaurant run by a husband and wife team and the food is really delicious. They have limited space so you need to book - but its definitely worth it!
Clifton Lido Great food, nice for coffee overlooking lovely outdoor pool. Or book a package for meal, massage, pool, sauna, hot tub!
Bravas in Cotham Hill. Delicious tapas.
Gambas at Wapping Wharf - good location close to the water, excellent food. In fact, Wapping Wharf has several options for coffee or food and good harbourside location.
Mocha Mocha if you need somewhere nearby that serves you promptly at lunchtime, Mocha Mocha at the top of St Michael's Hill, fits the bill. Baguettes, soup, brownies etc
Cafe and Bar 808 is right at the foot of St Michael's Hill
The Botanist, Berkeley Square – cool gastropub
Sergios, Park Street – cosy, traditional Italian
Kuch Whiteladies Road - 'Southern Persian Soul Food'; delicious and good value
Foliage in Clifton Village - has good cakes and, impressively, 2 types of hot chocolate (ordinary and dark!). Appears very crowded but you can be lucky to get a spot.
Mrs Potts Chocolate House on Park Street = best hot chocolate in Bristol with a bewildering array of chocolate strengths and types of beans
Urban Tandoor are highly reviewed and have become quite the viral sensation so they might be worth recommending?
Cow and Sow on Whiteladies Road, on Saturday. Reasonably priced and excellent service.
