The BJGP is an international journal publishing research, editorials, analysis, and clinical guidance for family practitioners and primary care researchers worldwide, and with an impact factor for 2019 of 4.190, it is one of the leading journals in primary care research worldwide. The Editor is responsible for the peer review process, commissioning, and acceptance decisions of all material in the BJGP and leading the production and promotion of the BJGP, and its associated activities including the BJGP Research Conference, BJGP Life, and its multimedia outputs. The Editor also has strategic oversight of the BJGP brand, including the BJGP, BJGP Open, and the BJGP Research Conference, and other future publishing initiatives.
The candidate will be a member of the RCGP in good standing with a current or recent licence to practise in good standing and no limitations on practice. They will possess a wide-ranging and detailed knowledge of primary care research and medical journal editing, including significant experience of assessing clinical research manuscripts and the peer review process; an understanding of journal publishing processes, including multimedia publishing; as well as an in-depth knowledge of the current challenges and opportunities facing general practice and primary care, including research and teaching.
