This post represents an exciting opportunity for an individual to undertake a PhD examining the role of mass media in influencing perceptions of health – specifically, osteoporosis, a common condition of weak bones that results in propensity to fracture. The PhD is fully funded by Versus Arthritis. The successful applicant will be closely supported by methodological expertise within the supervisory team. The student will gain experience of conducting: a media study using thematic and critical discourse analysis; focus groups; stakeholder engagement; oral presentations and academic writing and well as working in a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians and researchers, and with two external charity partners (Versus Arthritis and Royal Osteoporosis Society).
