Pre-conference workshops: How to series ...
SAPC is running this pre-conference workshop on the morning of Wednesday 6th July. You do not need to attend the whole conference to book on to this workshop.
Preparing for your fellowship interview - starting at 10.30am
Workshop facilitators: Akke Vellinga, Christine Bond, Peter Thompson
This workshop is part of a successful series run by the SAPC Primary Healthcare Scientists (PHoCuS) group, offering practical advice on career development.
The workshop is open to all SAPC members (PHoCuS and academic GPs) who are currently, or potentially, applying for a fellowship.
The workshop is presented by Peter Thompson, Assistant Director, Personal Awards, NIHR Trainees Coordinating Centre (TCC). He will start with a short overview of the different funding opportunities from the NIHR and highlight some challenges and pitfalls of ‘how to write a good proposal’. The main part of this workshop is however an overview of the interview followed by an interactive Q&A session. Peter will present this workshop together with Dr Sarah Mitchell, who is one of the DRF trainees (Doctoral Research Fellowships). The workshop is tailored to anyone who is planning to (re)submit a NIHR proposal and in particular those who anticipate an interview. Even though this workshop is focusing on NIHR fellowships, the information is more widely applicable and useful for anyone writing a proposal or preparing for interview. The workshop will give you an insight into how proposals are evaluated, what to do (or more importantly, what NOT to do), what NIHR is looking for and tips from the expert.
Time and venue: Weds 6th July, 10.30-12.30, Dublin Castle
